Murder – Franco Murat (16-71)
Between 9.30 pm and 10.00 pm on the 16th August, 1999, Franco Murat, 60 years, was set on fire at his home at 493 Prospect Road, Blair Athol. He received burns to the upper torso, head and face including airway damage which resulted in his death on the 3rd September, 1999. Prior to his death he told police three offenders had broken into his premises whilst he had been sleeping. A bag had been placed over his head and he had been beaten and then set alight. The offenders had asked for his car keys and he had complied. His vehicle was located a short distance away on fire around the same time that he was located.
