Murder – Robert Sabeckis (16-85)
At about 1.10 am, on the 13th January, 2000, Robert Sabeckis, aged 42 years, was murdered at a carpark on Tuit Road, Maslins Beach. He died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. It is believed that after the shooting the offender drove off in Robert Sabeckis’s vehicle. It was then crashed into bushes and a fence on Tuit Road, near the Beachwood’s Eco Tourist Caravan Park. The offender was seen to have run from the vehicle across paddocks towards the direction of Port Willunga. A search of this area located a sawn-off shotgun which is believed to be the murder weapon along with a jacket suspected of belonging to the offender. The shotgun was stolen from an Aldinga Beach address two weeks earlier. A DNA sample suspected of being that of the offender has been located on several items of interest to the investigation, but at this stage has not been matched to any person.
