Murder – Rosemary and Melissa Brown (16-44)
At about 2.30 am on Saturday, 13th May, 2000, Rosemary Brown, aged 33 years, and her daughter Melissa Brown, aged 15 years, left on foot to look for Rosemary’s 11 year old son, from a caravan they had been living out of, in the driveway of a friend’s house at Blair Athol.
The caravan belonged to a male who the Brown’s had previously befriended, whilst residents at the Windsor Gardens Caravan Park. The male did not accompany the two women when they left the caravan as he had to go to work that day. By morning, neither woman had returned. The male, in company with Rosemary’s son, made numerous attempts to find them but to no avail.
On Sunday, 14th May, 2000, Rosemary and Melissa were reported as missing persons to the Holden Hill police.
On 2nd July, 2000, Rosemary’s body was found amongst mangroves at Garden Island. There have been no positive sightings of Melissa or contact from her since the time she allegedly left the caravan.
