House Break

11-101    Police need help to identify a male who broke into a house at Athelstone and then set the house on fire.

At about 11.00 am on Monday, 4th April, 2011, the owner of the house at Springfield Avenue, Athelstone, was home, when a male knocked on the front door and told the owner that their daughter had been involved in a serious car crash and was in hospital.  The owner rushed to the Modbury Hospital, only to discover that it was a hoax.  Upon returning home the owner found that someone had forced open the back door and set the house on fire.  Estimated damage is about $300,000.00.

The male is described as:  25-30 years, 5’7″ (170 cm), medium build with a muscular upper body, Indian appearance, dark olive skin, very short dark hair (5mm long and either dark brown or black) and spoke with a thick accent, wearing a white fitted t-shirt with an unknown emblem on the front, blue denim jeans and sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact  Crime Stoppers.
