At about 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday 15 May 2002, Mark Coonie, aged 33 years, was found in his unit in Branksome Terrace, Dover Gardens.
Mr Coonie was found by his two brothers lying on a mattress in his bedroom two weeks after being assaulted.
At about 1.30 a.m. on Sunday 5 May 2002 Mr Coonie was found at a bus stop on Grote Street Adelaide adjacent to Moonta Street. He was taken home and mentioned that he had been assaulted by another person earlier in the evening.
Police believe that he died as a result of a head injury received during this assault in the early hours of Sunday 5 May 2002.
Police investigations indicate Mr Coonie had attended the Mars Bar Nightclub in Gouger Street Adelaide and other places during the evening.
