Rewards up to $200,000 will be paid by the Government of South Australia, at the discretion of the Commissioner of Police, to anyone who provides information and assistance that leads to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for the suspected murder of Anthony Stone.

At about 2.45 p.m. on 12 October 1989, Anthony Stone, aged 34 years, was an inmate at the Yatala Labour Prison. He was present in the yard during a meeting with approximately 90 other prisoners. During this meeting Mr Stone was fatally stabbed with a knife believed to have been removed from the prison kitchen.
A fellow inmate was subsequently arrested and charged with Mr Stone’s murder. This charge was later withdrawn. This person remains the suspect in this matter. Further evidence is required before a fresh murder charge can be laid.
