Attempt Robbery – Newton
09-13TV – Police need help to identify a male person who attempted to rob a Westpac Bank. At 2.45pm on Thursday January 15 2009 a male person walked into the Westpac Bank, Newton Shopping Centre, Newton. The person was wearing a balaclava over his head at came about 2 meters into the bank before turning and running off. Staff made eye contact with this person who they believed was about to hold them up, the alarm was activated. The man was last seen running from the bank, still with the balaclava over his head. He is described as 160-170cms tall, muscular upper body and broad shoulders, about 30 years of age and was wearing a navy blue balaclava with piping around the eyes, black round neck t-shirt, blue jeans and white runners. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
