Woolworths Conman – Strathalbyn & Naracoorte

07/13TV – Adelaide Hills Police need to identify a man who tricked staff into parting with cash at Woolworths stores in Naracoorte and Strathalbyn on 15th and 16th of March 2007. Both times an older sounding man called the stores claiming he had been undercharged for numerous groceries and would return with the money. On each occasion a man with a younger sounding voice entered the stores shortly after the phone call and produced a grocery receipt claiming that he had been overcharged the identical amount claimed during the phone call. Supported by the earlier call staff paid out an amount of money to the younger man. The older man did not return the money. A security photo shows the younger man taking the refund from the Strathalbyn store. Anyone with information about the deceptions or the people involved is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
