The male suspect smashed the window of the service station with a large axe and demanded cash and cigarettes. The staff member handed over the property and the man left on foot heading north down Neath Avenue.

Patrols were quickly on scene, set up cordons and searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

The employee was not physically injured as a result of the incident.
