Can you help solve the murder of Andrew Williamson?

Posted on 11/11/2020

A large amount of cash and gold jewellery might have been he motive for the bashing murder of Andrew (Wilbur) Williamson more than 17 years ago.

The 43-year old lived alone in a dugout at Tupper Close, Coober Pedy, and sometime after 1.30am on Tuesday 11 November 2003, he was murdered inside his home.

He had only recently moved to a new dugout and his new address was not common knowledge.

He was ill at the time of his murder, which would have made him uncapable of physically defending himself during the attack.

Mr Williamson was a known cannabis dealer and this may have played a part in his murder.

In the days leading up to his murder he was seen around the town with a large amount of money and due to ill-health he may have been seen as an easy target.

A reward of up to $200,000 is on offer to anyone who provides information leading to a conviction in the case.

Police believe that vital pieces of information from the community could result in a successful outcome – particularly from someone who might have bought the very distinctive jewellery who may not have known it was stolen, or who may have known it was stolen but not during a murder.
