CASE PROFILE – Peter Fazzari

Posted on 29/12/2020

At about 8am on Sunday 29 December 1991 the body of Peter Fazzari was found stabbed to death in the Cadell Training Centre.

The 56-year old was serving a life sentence for murdering his brother with a shotgun in 1979 but had served his non-parole period and was due for release the next day.

A Coronial Inquest finding from 5 February 2002 handed down by the then State Coroner Wayne Chivell found that Mr Fazzari was attacked in his cell while he was asleep.

During the attack he received a number of stab wounds to the head. A search of the cell block failed to recover a weapon.

In 2005 further lines of inquiry were provided to Major Crime Detectives that resulted in a search conducted at the Cadell Training Centre for the weapon. The search failed to recover the weapon.

A reward of up to $200,000 is on offer to anyone who provides information leading to a conviction in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
