Illicit Drugs campaign

Posted on 30/11/2025

If you’ve seen something that doesn’t feel right, you can tell Crime Stoppers safely and anonymously.

You don’t have to give your name. Ever.

What’s really happening in our regions

Regional South Australia has some of the highest levels of methamphetamine consumption in the nation. This reveals something important –  it points to criminal networks manufacturing, moving, and selling illicit drugs through regional towns and freight corridors.

From backyard sheds used as makeshift drug labs, to trucks and vans transporting illegal drugs between towns, these operations are often hidden in plain sight. They move quietly through major transport routes like the South Eastern Freeway, Princes Highway and Eyre Highway.

And they’re often connected – the same people who traffic in illicit drugs also engage in and profit from other criminal enterprises. Those profits often go straight back into organised crime, funding more drugs, more weapons and more harm.

These criminals don’t care who gets hurt – as long as the money keeps flowing.

What you can do

You can make a difference – and you can do it without putting yourself at risk.

When you tell Crime Stoppers what you know, you don’t give your name, you don’t have to talk to police, and you won’t go to court. It’s your choice to remain anonymous.

You can share what you know about:

  • Illicit drug manufacturing – people bringing chemicals into homes, sheds or backyards.
  • Illicit drug transport – vehicles or freight that don’t fit in, packages being moved at odd hours.

You might think what you know is small – but even a little piece of information can make a big difference. It could help identify a manufacturing site, stop a shipment or connect the dots in a bigger investigation.

Why people contact Crime Stoppers

People speak up because they want to protect their families and their towns. They’re tired of watching the same people cause harm. They want their kids to grow up in a community where criminals don’t run things.

When you share information with Crime Stoppers, you’re:

  • Protecting your family and friends.
  • Taking back control from people who profit from fear.
  • Standing up for what’s right.
  • Doing your bit to make your town safer.
  • Doing it safely – with no risk to yourself.

You stay safe. Your name stays out of it. And you’ll know you did the right thing.

Why this matters

Profits from the Illicit drug trade fund organised criminal networks that destroy families, exploit young people and tear at the fabric of small towns.

Every illegal sale, every deal, every package moved across a back road adds up. And while these networks grow, honest people pay the price – through lost jobs, broken families and unsafe streets.

When someone reports what they’ve seen, it’s a quiet act of courage that helps stop all of that.
It’s not about punishment – it’s about protection, fairness and community pride.

Because the truth is simple: If nobody speaks up, nothing changes.
But when you do – even if it only once – you’re helping protect what matters most to you.

How to share what you know

You can contact Crime Stoppers safely and anonymously, 24 hours a day by phoning 1800 333 000 or going online at https://crimestopperssa.com.au

  • You don’t have to provide your name.
