The metropolitan area of Adelaide has experienced an increase in bicycle theft over the last financial year and SAPOL has initiated a bike theft crime prevention message to members of the public in a bid to promote better bike security, including the type of locks to use, how to secure your bike and where the best place is to park your bike.
The ‘MyWheels App’, a mobile app that seeks to help people better secure their bicycle is also available. The app is an initiative of Crime Stoppers SA and its objectives are to provide security & safety strategies and advice that will be valued by bicycle owners – www.mywheelsapp.com.au.
Anyone with information about bike theft, including bike thieves and where stolen bikes are disposed of, are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, report online or via the Crime Stoppers App.
