Lancelot ‘Buddy’ Newchurch
Rewards up to $200,000 will be paid by the Government of South Australia, at the discretion of the Commissioner of Police, to anyone who provides information and assistance that leads to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for the suspected murder of Lancelot ‘Buddy’ Newchurch.

At about 11.20 p.m. on Tuesday 9 November 1982, Lancelot Newchurch, aged 27 years was seen outside the Westlands Hotel, McDouall Stuart Avenue, Whyalla being assaulted by two males. The two males had what appeared to be sticks or bars and were beating the Mr Newchurch about the head and body with the weapons and kicking him. A broken bottle was also located at the scene.
Mr Newchurch was conveyed to the Whyalla Hospital bleeding profusely from head injuries but was found to be dead upon arrival.
Two suspects were charged with the murder but the matter did not proceed to trial. One of the suspects later committed suicide.
