Beat the Burglar campaign launched
Posted on 29/03/2026
Crime Stoppers South Australia is proud to partner with the Town of Walkerville to launch a new community safety campaign, Beat the Burglar, encouraging local residents and businesses to take simple steps to reduce the risk of property crime ahead of the Easter period.
With plenty of people planning to travel or spend time away from home over the long weekend, the campaign focuses on a key message: most property crime isn’t sophisticated – it’s opportunistic.
Rather than relying on complex security measures, Beat the Burglar highlights how small, practical actions – like locking doors and windows, keeping valuables out of sight, and maintaining visibility around properties – can significantly reduce the likelihood of a break-in.
The campaign aims to shift perceptions around property crime by reinforcing that many offences occur when an easy opportunity presents itself. By making homes and businesses just a little harder to access, residents can play a direct role in preventing crime in their community.
Delivered across digital and social channels, the campaign is supported by targeted, localised advertising within the Town of Walkerville to maximise relevance and impact during a period when homes and businesses may be more vulnerable.
The initiative reflects a shared commitment between Crime Stoppers SA and the Town of Walkerville to support practical, preventative approaches to community safety. It also encourages residents to stay aware of their surroundings and take action when something doesn’t feel right.
Information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online – while non-urgent police assistance is available on 131 444.
As the Easter break approaches, the message is simple:
Most break-ins aren’t clever – they’re convenient.
Make it just a little harder, and you can beat the burglar.
