Community trust delivers strong results for SA
Posted on 03/09/2025
Crime Stoppers South Australia has released its half-year results for the first six months of 2025, highlighting the powerful role of community information in helping police solve and prevent crime.
Between 1 January and 30 June 2025, Crime Stoppers received over 12,000 contacts from the public, including 10,437 calls, 4,201 online reports and other written information. These anonymous tips directly contributed to 124 apprehensions, 281 charges laid and more than 5,600 police actions.
Community information has been pivotal in tackling some of the state’s most serious offences. In just six months, anonymous reports to Crime Stoppers have led to:
-
30 apprehensions for serious drug offences
-
13 apprehensions for serious firearms offences
-
Arrests connected to stolen motorcycles, illicit tobacco, criminal trespass, road traffic offences, child exploitation material, arson and the production of fake identity documents.
Thanks to the public’s vigilance, significant seizures have also been made, including:
-
326 cannabis plants
-
28.4kg of cannabis
-
784g of methamphetamine
-
3.1g of heroin
-
4.4L of GHB (Fantasy)
-
30 firearms
These quantities equate to more than 30,000 street-level drug deals stopped in their tracks.
Beyond drugs and firearms, people also shared concerns about murders (including cold cases), illicit tobacco and vapes, assaults, sexual assaults, domestic violence, thefts and arson.
The results reinforce the trust South Australians have in sharing what they know and the tangible outcomes that flow from even the smallest piece of information.
