Fresh initiatives and strong results on show in Spring newsletter
Posted on 26/09/2025
Spring is a season of renewal, and Crime Stoppers South Australia is celebrating with the release of its Spring Newsletter, showcasing the campaigns, partnerships and community impact achieved over recent months.
Cybercrime
With business email compromise and invoice fraud costing Australians more than $224 million in 2023, Crime Stoppers SA launched a new awareness campaign with cybersecurity partner OpSys Australia. The campaign provides local businesses with practical resources, training tools and real-life case studies to help prevent devastating financial losses.
Global leadership on scams
CEO Nigel Smart represented South Australia at the Global Anti-Scam Summit Asia in Singapore, where international leaders in law enforcement, government and business shared cutting-edge strategies to combat online crime.
Local campaigns delivering results
Closer to home, Crime Stoppers SA’s community campaigns have achieved remarkable outcomes. A hyper-local vehicle crime prevention campaign led to a 55% drop in thefts from motor vehicles in targeted suburbs. Meanwhile, the annual Crime Stoppers Day saw record community engagement with the message: “Don’t Just Post It, Report It.”
Building safer communities
Partnerships continue to be at the heart of Crime Stoppers’ work. Recent collaborations include renewed support from Coles to improve retail safety, and a new partnership with the Town of Walkerville, encouraging residents to share what they see – anonymously – to help police prevent crime.
The power of your information
Between January and June 2025, more than 12,000 contacts to Crime Stoppers led to 124 apprehensions, 281 charges, 30 firearms seized and significant amounts of illicit drugs taken off South Australian streets.
